MALE GYNECOMASTIA The male patient in quest of a consultation for breast reduction for gynecomastia is, perhaps, the most difficult. A very masculine, self-conscious man telling a young receptionist he wants his breasts reduced is most humiliating. Once this is overcome, we have some great news! The surgical procedures have improved to the point of requiring no major incisions for most all candidates! Modern male breast reduction usually involves liposuction only. The majority of reductions can be completed under local or general anesthesia through a small (4 millimeter) spot incision. Post operatively a compression vest must be worn 24/7 for two months to reach the best results of chest remodeling. Sometimes a second procedure is needed to arrive at the best outcome. |
