The small, short chin can be corrected with a chin implant. If your bite is normal and jaw reconstruction is not needed or desired, then a relatively simple chin implant can alter the lower face, improving the jaw line and adding stronger dimensions to the lower face. This procedure is often performed as an additional enhancement as a part of a rhinoplasty (nose job) or as part of facial rejuvenation procedures such as a facelift or neck liposuction.

In the office during your preoperative visit, Dr. Apesos and you will choose the specific implant to be placed based on your anatomical dimensions and personal preferences. The appearance from the front and side are both very important and should be considered for a satisfactory result. Complications include implant malposition, lip numbness and weakness.

    Cheek Implants

A cheek enhancement procedure is a cosmetic surgical procedure used to build up or enlarge a person's cheekbones, thus bringing a more desired balance to the face. A relatively flat cheekbone area can often be enhanced or made more prominent with the insertion of cheek implants. The implants are also often inserted in conjunction with other procedures, i.e., facelift. Cheek implants are placed either through an incision in the mouth, through a lower eyelid incision during eyelid surgery or through a facelift incision.

The procedure takes approximately one hour and can be performed under sedation with local anesthesia or under general anesthesia. Swelling is to be expected postoperatively. Medication controls the minimal pain and discomfort patients often experience. Recovery time is fast; patients can begin exercising after several weeks. As with any medical procedure, however, there are certain inherent risks involved with cheek enhancements such as asymmetry and infection. Chest Implants

The insertion of pectoral implants to enhance the underdeveloped male chest is becoming more popular. The work can be performed under sedation with local anesthesia or under general anesthesia as an outpatient procedure in much the same way that female breast enlargement is done. The implants are a solid, soft silicone polymer that can not migrate or effect your system. Before surgery the patient is fitted with various sizes of implants in order to select his desired result and appearance.

    Calf Implants

Although not as common in the Midwest as on the West Coast, calf implants can add to the dimensions of the lower legs as exercise programs will never do. Such implants can be factory made or personally fabricated to enhance the shape of the legs and to correct problems of asymmetry. This surgery is performed in the office under general anesthesia.

    Buttock Implants

Most people would like a smaller bottom, but some folks want some help for enhancement of the buttock. Buttock implants can be the answer. The incision is made in the inconspicuous anatomic crease of the buttock. The surgery is generally performed under deep sedation or general anesthesia. Caution is needed when sitting for the first few weeks.
